Berlin, Feb, 1, Authoritative German politicians today rejected any connection between German colonial claims and a more general settlement; the Reich demands the return of its colonies without any. counterpart.
German quarters were commenting upon' Mr. Neville Chamberlain's speech in the House of Commons yesterday.
It was emphasized here today that following Herr Hitler's speech before the Reichstag last Monday, the colonial problem has become the foremost in the Reich. The link between this question and the "natural aspirations' of the German people was not hidden.
Observers pointed especially to the Fuehrer's sentence, "I believe in a long period of peace," which, they said, was inserted into the address at the last moment and which did not figure into the prepared English and French translations handed to news correspondents on the very evening of the speech.
The Press also stressed the growing opposition between the "have" and "have not" nations.
A violent campaign has been launched against U.S, President Roosevelt, who is accused of being an ally of Moscow. Newspapers protest against certain interpretations placed upon the Fuehrer's declarations upon Italo-German solidarity Havas,
