Things to Come

ALL is for the best, if we will only accept the astral conclusions of that inspired Mayfair prophetess, seer, clairvoyant and Weird Sister, the Marshiness of Swamp, writes a British columnist.

After 36 hours with a triplex crystal, two bowls of silver sand, a pack of bezique cards, a divining-rod, tea-leaves, a roulette-wheel and four bottles of vermouth, the old harridan predicts that:

Shirley Temple and Joe Stalin will save humanity from itself; Spain will transfer its London Embassy to Whitehall, in order to establish a rival Seville Service; Human nature will be abolished early in 1941 by a Private Members' Bill; British heavyweight boxers will sign a collective non-aggression pact; A new call to the Higher Thought will sweep the country, sponsored by a Miss Eleanor Flitch, of Devizes; Wembley Stadium will have its Maginot Line of concrete and steel gun turrets to guard against Cup Final gate-crashers.
