Chinese tanks and artillery yesterday rumbled their way to Sinyang, important Honan town 170 kilometres north of Hankow, as the Nationalist command hurled' men and material into that area in a determined attempt to halt the Japanese threat to the Wuhan tri-cities from the north.
Forces under Gen. Vu Hsueh-chung and Gen. Sun Lien-chung, deployed along the Peiping-Hankow Railway south of Chengchow, were ordered to concentrate at Sinyang, where one regiment each of artillery and tanks was being rushed from Hankow, Domei reports from the Honan front said yesterday.
Prague, Sept, 18.
Armed with hand grenades, about 175 German Sudetens attacked and attempted to occupy the Customs House at Asch, near the Czech-
German border, where the headquarters of the Sudeten Germans are situated.
Police and military reinforcements were rushed to the spot in armoured cars and succeeded in restoring order after a clash in which two Customs officers were injured.
The authorities found fragments of German hand grenades near the building. The police were unable to identify the aggressors.—Havas.
