S.C.C. Rivals

The Recs veterans were able to defeat their Cricket Club rivals yesterday afternoon on the former's ground, by 42 runs in the annual Veterans Cricket match. The game played in a friendly spirit, produced some surprisingly good cricket and a large crowd vociferously cheered the efforts of both sides. Coward was outstanding with his wicket-keeping while Piper hit a glorious six into the bowling greens in his knock of 29. G. N. Manley showed up well for the Recs attack. this time was fifteen ahead of his opposite number, which margin he had increased by the end of play to 16, the greatest margin of the match. A. D. Denton, although he did not finish a winner, collected a 5 at the 3rd and a 4 at the 13th.
