Ministry of Supplies Suggested

London, Oct 16.

Mr. L. S. Amery, former Cabinet Minister, today published an article in the "Sunday Times" supporting, the demand of Mr. Anthony Eden. former Foreign Secretary, for a "united front" in all questions of foreign policy and national defence.

Mr. Amery also strongly advocates the creation of a Ministry of Supplies and goes on to say that Britaiv must draw certain fundamentally important conclusions from the recent crisis: 1: that peace depends solely on the strength of armaments and, 2: that the League of Nations has failed utterly as an instrument for the maintenance of peace. This fact, Mr. Amery states, has been amply proved by íhe examples of Abyssinia, Spain and China. It was moreover characteristic of the discredit which the League has fallen into that Czechoslovakia did mot even apply for its assistance.

Mr. Amery goes on to stress the necessity of closer ce-operation between ihe Government and the opposition in matters relating to foreign policy so that there should be no room for doubt as to the solidarity of the entire British nation in all vital questions affecting its security.—Trans-Ocean.
