Carson Equalizes

Batting for the second time, Carson again reached first base when Second Baseman Winchester fumbled his ground shot. Beeson committed the game mistake on Fielden's grounder. Morang was retired but Deegan managed to reach first and filled the bases, Krause rolled out a hard shot. Winchester and Biangini both ran forward to grab the ball and collided against each other, thus letting Carson equalize. Here Dipizol grew nervous and walked two successive batters, Williams and Bernard, to force in Fielden and Deegan for a two-run advantage.

Rover Wright dropped Huebner's short fly and the civilians were 6-3 ahead with Krause scoring.

Squires and Carson each collected a single in the sixth stanza. Third Baseman Terra muffed Deegan's low shot to enable Squires to increase the lead. Terra, in the eighth, made a poor throw trying to put Nance out at first and the error was responsible for yet another run, which was the final marker made from Squires' fly.

Summaries follow 49 for the first wicket before the latter was beautifully caught in midfield by Tay off Rigg. Crowley did not stay long at the wicket and Mair became associated with Smith. The latter was batting very well, square cutting and turning the ball to the leg with great effect. Mair was extremely slow in taking advantage of some obviously short bowling by both Dunkley and Rigg, and might have opened out a little sooner to bat for a win.

The Bank fielding was infinitely superior to that of their opponents, and good throwing in was seen, Smith deservedly reached his fifty, and became rather reclsless thereafter, with the result that he lost his wicket in attempting a hard hit, the ball only snicking his bat and being well taken by.
