A spokesman for the Foreign Office declared in an interview today that "It is highly gratifying that the principal signatory Powers of the Nine Power Treaty—Great Britain, America and France—are now taking identical views on the Far Eastern situation.
"It is only through united, parallel action on the part of these Powers," he added, "that Japanese aggression in China can be checked, and the status quo in the Far East maintained. as provided for in the Nine Power Treaty.
"Action is what is needed," declares the "Central Daily News" oficial organ of the Chinese Government, declaring that Great Britain's policy in the Far East has reached a crucial stage. The paper considers that if Great Britain takes the lead at Geneva, her stand will be supported by the other signatories of the Nine Power Pact, including the United States.
"So long as Great Britain is determined to take action." continues the "Central Daily News," "no only can she preserve her present interests in the Far East, but she can also re-establish British leadership in the Far East for another 100 years, and also win China's tremendous market."
