All Set for First Flight Mechanics of the Pan American

Airways recently were completing arrangements for the initial flight which is to make aviation history. They have already completed the construction of a "dolly," a piece of machinery which will pull the giant flying boat from the water toward the hangar. They also were busily engaged in making final preparations for accommodating the giant plane, which is to replace the missing Hawaiian Clipper.

No definite announcement has been yet made as to the schedule to be assigned to the new giant of the air.

There were indications from the United States that a large number of persons had already applied for initial passage on the gigantic plane, which is undergoing severe last-minute tests for the benefit of the United States Department of Commerce. The Department of Commerce must: be fully satisfied by the tests before granting the necessary papers for the maiden flight, either with or without passengers.
