I was coming home last night, when I saw a. chap crawling about on his hands and knees on t'footpath.
"What's to do, lad?" says I. "Have you lost something?"
The fellow looks up at me and I can see he's been celebrating, like.
"Aye," says he. "I lost a ten shilling note."
"Well, down I go on my knees and help him look for it, but there's no sign of it. "Look here," says I, "exactly where did you lose this ten-shilling note?"
Half a down the road," says he.
"Half a mile down t'road!" I says. "Then why look for it here?"
"Better light at this corner," says he.
