Special Municipality policemen were unsuccessful at 9.25 am, yesterday in their attempt to force Mrs. E. L. Dean, British, to accompany them to a nearby police station following a minor accident in which Mrs. Dean was involved near the intersection of Vu Yuen and Edinburgh Roads. Grasping the situation in the fraction of a second, Mrs. Dean proceeded to a British military post at the street intersection and was fortunate in finding Major S. R. Hunt to be present there at the time. She explained what had happened and the British officer immediately informed Bubbling Well police station from where officers arrived soon afterwards.
Notwithstanding the presence of the British and S.M.P. officials, Special Municipality policemen stood on the side-boards of the car and prevented it from leaving, until one of their officers arrived and ordered his men to let Mrs, Dean leave.
A similar case occurred at practically the same place on Tuesday when a young British lady and her mother were involved in a minor accident with a cyclist. They were forced to xo to a nearby Special Municipality police station and after paying a slight indemnity to the cyclist who, through his carelessness had caused the accident, they were permitted to leave, No Mobilisation in Belgium Brussels, Apr. 10.
