London, May 17.
Assurances that the Allies would continue to aid Norway with più possible vigour were given today by Lord Halifax, British Foreign Secretary, on the occasion of the inauguration' of a "King Haakon Fund" for the financing of the military assistance to Norway.
"We shall continue to press vigorously forward with the object of capturing Narvik and establishing a base for the Norwegian Government," the British statesmen declared.
"When that object is achieved we shall take council with the Norwegian Government and see in what way the situation can best be developed to our mutual advantage.
"The Germans occupy south Norway but the resistance of the Norwegian forces has not been broken; by their side are French, Polish and British soldiers fighting with increasing success and in the hope of gaining full control of northern Norway, Lord Halifax concluded.—Havas.
