Effective June 10
Regulations covering the transportation of commodities to and from Shanghai which have been enforced by Japanese army and navy authorities since April I will be altered June 10, it was learned yesterday.
Details of the revised rules are available at the Shanghai Military Exchange Office of the Japanese Expeditionary Forces to China and at the office of the resident naval paymaster, it was said.
It was emphasized that the change is temporary and has been necessitated by efforts to suppress pro-Chungking activities and insure peace and order in Japanese-controlled areas. The new regulations will apply equally to Chinese, Japanese and third power nationals bringing goods into or out of Shanghai, it was said.
While it is recognized that the new rules may cause inconvenience, the Japanese mi authorities are anxious for ce-operation of those concerned in order that the economic life of the city will not unduly suffer, it was understood.—Domei.
