Possible German Moves Cause Speculation in London; Action Against Turkey Anticipated London. May 5. The swift British seizure of Basrah and the return to Iraq of Emir Aboul Tilah in an effort to restore his regime led to speculation here today that Chancellor Adolf Hitler woud strike suddenly and heavily at Iraq and Iran. possibly via Turkey.

Chancellor Hitler, if successful in a campaign in Iraq, will have three choices of action against Iran, political quarters said.
In taking action against Iran. the Germans could bomb the oil centres in the southwest. The Germans also could attempt to drive the British out of the Basra, region and invade Iran. Their last manoeuvre would consist of diplomatic pressure to force Iran to turn over oil concessions to Germany.
