"When a solitary raider visited a south-east coast town, a bomb which fell in the road burst a water main. The machine twice circled the town, the second time machine-gunning the streets.

There were a number of cases of Nazi airmen baling out over towns.

A member of the Home Guard leaving home for duty saw a parachute level with the roof-tops, and seized the German pilot as he landed.

Three German airmen descended near a village. Two surrendered to farm workers and the third to a farmer's wife and her 14-year-old son, who had armed himself with his father's rifle. The airman, who cried "mercy," was given tea and had his wounds dressed before being handed over to the authorities.—Reuter.
