London, Apr. 9
Official circles here ye greeted with amusement a German News Agency report alleging that the British were plotting to obstruct the Danube River by blowing up its banks. The German report was described as "ioo fantastic for serious consideraese circles said it was doubtful whether any effective obstruction could be accomplished, particularly ju this season, when the Danube floods are interrupting up-river traffic. Such an expedition, they pointed out, would come under the scrutiny of the authorities of four countries Rumania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Hungary—before it could reach Germany.
Any such obstruction, if effected, could easily be cleared with dynamite &nd.dredges, and that there was therefore no point in expending efforts, risking the personnel of an expedition, or incurring the displeasure of the neutrals, if it was attempted in neutral territory—United Press.
