Many Want to

Since the extension of the area of hostilities, His Majesty's Consul-General has again informed His Majesty's Government of the growing anxiety of a considerable number of local British subjects to offer themselves for active service in various capacities, and has enquired whether, if the Government were not in a position to arrange accommodation, there was any objection to the raising of funds locally to facilitate the passage home of these volunteers.

A reply has now been received through His Majesty's Embassy stating that, the general attitude of His Majesty's Government towards the recruiting of British subjects resident in distant countries is at present under review. There is, however, no objection to the raising of funds locally for passages for recruits, provided no recruits are actually sent until further instructions have been received.
