Darfur Revolt Stamped Out

When the Sudanese territory of Darfur revolted, as a result of German intrigue, it was the Egyptian army which undertook the task of reaching the scene of the trouble and stamping it out.

Egypt also made a very valuable contribution to the Allied effort in Palestine when it supplied General Allenby's army with camel transport and large numbers of men for labour corps work who were used to the hot climate.

Egypt's record during the last war, and the progress she has made to meet this one by putting her armed forces on a thoroughly modern basis as regards equipment and traimng, leave no doubt that she will acquit herself as a worthy companion l. arms among the Allies who are fizhting for world freedom. s working seven days a week; Mr. Hudson, the new Minister of Agriculture has told the farmers that if they still have any land lying fallow, they must plough it ul necessary seeds are available and no excuse for disobeying the order will be taken; and finally the Government has taken powers to mobilize and control the entire national resources both in property and labour. What this will mean in practice one cannot yet see, but it should put a stop to one particular evil, namely, the bribe ing away of skilled workers from one industry\to another, which has been producing serious confusion and delay in output.
