With customary tact, we selected the wrong bus. At the Race Course the passengers were terrified by 'a shot—probably another murder "believed -polifical"—and the bus jostled to a standstill. Flat tyre!
We stepped off briškly, lingered momentarily in front of a novelty shop. A little lapel figure caught our eye, a jolly sailor in red, white and blue enamel. Price: $9.50.
"Almost two-thirds of a bath towel," we calculated, unrepentant, the new thrinket pinned to our lapel.
Finally we found the towels, exact replicas of the highwayman's variety. Price: Sixteen dollars.' But we bought em. How COULD we go back to Yates Road?
And the little red. white and blue sailor grinned maliciously from our lapel. HIS nose was intact!
