Lack of Coal

As a consequence of the prevailing lack of coal in France, where only lignite coal is obtainable in sufficient quantity, the thermo-electric system will have to be greatly reduced in scope, the "Soir" stated.

Only the output of 3,000,000,000 kilowatt hours that may be produced by use of lignite coal can be main-ined; the other 6,000,000,000 kilo-att hours will have to be produced by water power. This is the problem facing the French Government, the newspaper stated.
