"News Does Not Astonish Me In the Least"
Cairo, Jan. 31.
Ex-King Prajadhipok of Siam, told by Reuter yesterday of the reported plot against the Government, aiming at the restoration of him or his brother, said that this was the first he had heard of it "I am accustomed to hear reports of plots against the present regime," he declared, "one almost every fortnight. The present news, therefore, does not astonish me in the least, but since I am not in touch with the present political situation, I am unable to offer any opinion.
"I can say, however, that the reason for the periodic attempts at rebellion is that the present regime does not allow the formation of politi. cal parties through which the public can air their grievances.
"The Premier, who is backed by the Army, is the real ruler of Siam."
Asked if he would be willing to go back to Siam as King once more, ex-King Prajadhipok said: "I have not yet been approached on the matter."—Reuter.
