'A most amusing exhibition is being held in the Horticultural Hall, West minster, where all the descendants of the White Knight are showing their inventions. Of course numbers of them have been fascinated by the possibilities of A.R.P., and have produced blinds that "draw themselves when the light is switched on, a gasproof perambulator and a collapsible gas-proof room. But there are more amusing, more everyday things than that.
It Is curious to see how often invention shows itself in matters quite outside the inventor's business. For example a solicitor invents a patent method of cooking tinned food, a furniture shopman invents a nonslipping horseshoe and a restaurant Keeper invents a means of concentrating shot and thus lengthening the range of a gun.
