Thai Tension Eases

Vichy, Oct. 9.

Mhe tension between Indo-China land Thailand eased slightly today following the creation of a joint committee which will investigate the [latest border incident involving the death of a Laotian subject named Nai Chanta.

It may be recalled that Nai Chanta was shot by an Indo-Chinese gen-Garme while he was attempting to swim across the Mekong River and thus escape from the French police.

The Thai Government claimed that he was a Thai subject, despite the fact that an inquest established his Laotian nationality.—Havas.
