Reshuffled United

The re-shuffled United team saw one of their principal half-liners, E. V. Chanturai, shifted up to the centre-forward berth and though the two reserves, Greenberg and Remedios, performed their duties competently they lacked the initiative to create openings for the forwards, their distributions being inopportune and uncertain. The bulk of the occupation of feeding the forwards was consequently left in the hands of P. R. Kermani, who made his presence felt in the position of centre-half. Greenberg and Remedios, however, were often prominent in breaking up some. of the most promising movè- ments of the Indians, Notwithstanding the fact that he was playing in a strange position, Chanturai, gave a dashing display as the spearhead of attack and although his shooting might be improved, his keen sense of match play initiative gave the Indians many more worries than they would care to admit. Reuben failed to make an impression in the inside-let berth because of not being able to combine with the other forwards but proved to be useful in defensive work. Another useful player was Murray whose speed cartied him through the Indian backs time and again before centring Pate and Watson again acquitted themselves well as a staunch pair of backs. The former's aerial drives were strong, play was confined to midfield for the greater part of the first half, while organized aggressions were broken up by timely intercept tions. The two goals scored were of almost identical style; the gentreforward breaking through the backs on his own to enter the circle and siam it past the custodian.
