'Sm—So much has been aid about. the military successes so far accomplished by Nazi Germany, that people living' in this part of the world may bbe beginning to be worried about the result of the cause, for which Eng: land and her Allies are fighting. There fs, indeed, no denying the fact that such important military successes as have been said to be aiming at, its conquest of the world through destruction of the liberties over free countries have been scored, but why should not a thought be given to the bright side of the war? Do we not know that right prevails on might in the end? Do we not know that who is a deciding factor in the outcome of the' war, has been helping England with military weapons and materials short of the nature of war? Do we not know that Herr Hess, while his own country is at the height of its glory, fled to England, possibly with the feeling of sadness for an inevitable defeat to bbe occasioned by the rash action of Hitler in starting the war? We may not know the situation in Germany well as Herr Hess; but it is quite evident not only from his Might but from the stalements—the nature of which we are unable to know—which he'has made to some important person ages in England that even most of the German people may have realized that victory will not be on their side. Keeping these things in mind, we should place due confidence in' the ability of the British people and their Allies to inflict a crushing defeat on their enemy, a foe to world peace and destroyer of liberty; we should do something as a matter of help to maintain and encourage the moral the peoples in the front as well as in the rear of the war. To those who value democracy very highly as a Dulwarke against those' forces of vioence, there should be the maximum effort to be made towards the life and death struggle. Should any of them fail to discharge their duties towards their respective countries in the attainment of our only one aim—vietony for democracy or one to 1ierate subjugated peoples from the yoke of tyranny of Germany, that would constitute an offence of graver nature than any we "have ever known, A Cinmeese Shanghai, May 29.
