The first round of the main event Saw Wan and Kubiak sizing each other up and little action or damage was observed. The second and third went to Wan by narrow margins, the Northern champion scoring repeatedly with well judged straight-lefts and left-hooks. Kubiak attempted to open up But clever defence by Wan saw the "Killer's" right go whizzing past his head by inches or land solidly on his gloves ór arms. The fourth went to Wan by a fair edge, several powerful lefts and rights driving back Kubiak across the ring. The Marine, biding his time, failed again with his well famed right but in the sixth he shook his opponent with three quick, short, wicked rights. Wan was hurt by these blows and Kubiak had him going, but he could not consolidate his advantage and Wan came back fighting. The remainder of the bout saw Wan gradually but surely getting very much on top and as the bout drew to a close, the northern champion held an indisputable lead which only a knock-out would have erased. belt aid
