It is just this kind of thing that makes it obvious how impossible it would be for the Democracies ever to have any more dealings with the Nazi party or even to tolerate their existence in the world any longer.
On the one hand there are the religious persecutions and anti-God tactics that have come to be associated wih a totalitarian regime and on the other a deification of the earthly symbol of Nazi power as a means of controlling the people through their conscience. Trying, in fact, to ensure that people shall submit themselves to the control of this party of power-crazed maniacs out of a mistaken sense of duty.
It is slavery of an order and on a scale hitherto undreamed-of; and it is slavery which has already for almost a decade been permitted to secure a tight grip on German youth. This is perhaps the most serious aspect of the menace of Nazism.
Persecutions and cruelty inspire horror and a determination that sul things must stop. The perpetrator of these crimes, already probably degenerate. are permanently affected. The victims suffer and die. But per-sections can only affect a part of the populace directly.
The perverse teachings of the Hitler youth organizations on the other hand affect everybody. They are being pumped into every child so that every family in Germany is exposed to the infection of this horrible disease and the whole future German race is in danger of being brought to a condition of spiritual and intellectual servitude that is appalling to contemplate.
This danger is far more real than the physical danger of persecution. but so much less obvious to the outside world. It needs to be exposed and it must and will be removed.
