Accordingly last April this' Business Women's Club was formed, which now numbers 20 members who meet every three weeks. Its purpose is to unite business and professional Chinese women) to help; the women and girls who are working in factories to obtain better educations and to make the best use of all their advantages. It is proposed! to ask the managers to provide playgrounds at the factories and then the club will arrange to have supervised games. They also hope to organize educational classes and clubs among th women employees. At present the; club members are making a survey of industrial conditions abou, Shanghai iv: order to have as complete as possible a knowledge of conditions before beginning actual} work. On completion these retwns will be tabulated and made avail-! able for social research.
The requirements for membership at present are that applicants sha be business or professional women' and that they shall have completed at least the course of the high primary school or its equivalent Amiong the membership are found bankers, typists, saleswoman, advertising writers, general office workers, proof-readers in English departments of publishing houses, Secretaries, reporters, teachers, and doctors.
