Saturday afternoon saw the opening round of the "'Skottowe"" Cup competition and, for the first time in the history of this competi-competition teams from the second division of the League were competing, the Shanghai Football Club being the only first division team drawn in the first round. The game which attracted the largest number of spectators was that between the St. Francis Xavier's School and the Thomas Hanbury School, played on the Shanghai Recreation Club's ground. As the teams stand first and second in the Second Division League table, a keen struggle was eaticipated, and the spectators were not disappointed, for in an interesting game the St. Xavier's boys gained a victory by only one goal to nil.
