Flight from Macao

BLERIOT SEAPLANES AT HONGKONG

On the King's birthday, Hongkong for the first time had a chance of seeing at close quarters the latest mechanical triumph. There were several seaplanes flying at Repulse Bay. There were also sampans and steam launches paying a silent tribute to the new method of locomotion.

As a demonstration of what flying! men can do the affair may have been disappointing. There were, at any rate before 4 p.m., no real flying feats. A few wealthy passengers were carried on the machines a large number of other people saw the flights and even inspected the propellers and other visible parts of the mechanism. But the real significance of the afternoon was in the fact that a number of seaplanes flew across from Macao to Hongkong.
