Mildly fatfical is "Priscilla Goes Astray" by¥W. H. Lane Crauford (Ward Lock, London, 3/6). It is the story of the efforts of a young man to escape from a hard-headed young woman to whom he had proposed marriage while in his cups. His efforts include entry into a nursing home (where he escapes an opera-tien for appendicitis nly by the si of his teeth), tne placing of his clothes on a river bank, and finally immurement in a poultry farm—Priscilla is one of the ducks. The fun, if mild, is quick, almost of the backchat variety, and the reader will wait indistinctively after each point for the expected laugh. But on the whole a quite readable book—though not for those with higher brows.—
