While the Sixth Marines were looking forward to a successful season, the Reds of the Fourth Regiment sliced in and took the rival regimental team into camp by a tally of 33-28. This outcome gave the Reds and the officers the edge. But in less than a week's time, both of them were overpowered. The Reds lost to the Buccaneers, 24-16, and the officers dropped before Triangle Motors, 53-46, At this stage, all the stellar teams had broken into the losing column and competition came right back to where it had started.
Through a series of knock-outs, the Marine Officers were crowned champions. But a more remarkable event, which was considered to be almost im lo, took place when Triangle Motors succeeded in winning from Tien Hong by a stupendous score of 128-55. It was not only the way the basket net kept dancing all the time /and that points were "a dime a dozen." The Motormen passed and shot as though the ball were on a string, drawn irresistibly to the target every time they gained possession of the spherald. They pitched in one-handers, hammered in set shots and laid them up gently off finger tips. In all, no less than 60 baskets were registered by the motorists and plus the 25 goals chalked up by Tien Hong, the total of shots converted from the field reached 85, avenging roughly one counter in every 25 seconds.
