Defrauded — German and Chinese Detained For Investigation

Arrested with two Formosans, a German and ten Chinese were remanded by the First Special District Court yesterday until next week on suspicion of having defrauded a Chinese merchant of $1,525.

The German, F. K. Wittrack, was arrested by Detective-Sergeant G. W. Wright in Rue Lafayette, while the Chinese and Formosans were rounded up in a room in the Far Eastern Hotel in Vu Ya Ching Road.

The arrests were made upon the receipt of a complaint from one Zee Dee-hwa, proprietor of a sauce shop at 38-40 Route clu Pere Froe. He was alleged to have paid sums amounting to $1,525 to the accused for the removal of goods from his shop in Yangtszepoo district.

His mother was!' alleged to have been beaten by them in a quarrel.
