Surgeons attending Miss Sylvia Eugenia Davis, 20-year-old girl who has never been able to use her limbs, to-day expected to know by nightfall whether she would recover from an operation on her spinal cord.
Yesterday her. surgeons said that their patient had an even chance of recovering and of using her paralyzed limbs.
The unusual operation involved changes in the nerves running from the spinal cord to the brain. Miss Davis, on regaining conscious ne: was smiling and her respiration v regarded as a "favourable indication of a successful recovery."
Miss Davis by painstaking efforts prior to her operation, had learned to write, draw and paint by holding the appropriate instrument in her mouth.—United Press.
