Hand-painted tablecloths, made fast by a new process, will be seen at the Fair for the first time. These tablecloths will be in pure linen, and also in cotton and rayon. Furnishing fabrics displayed by one Irish firm are made of pure linen, thus fitting them for tropical and southern countries, for, besides being cool and hygienic, fax fibre is proof against attack by insects.
Homespuns, sixty years ago. were worn only by the Scottish crofters. Now they are much sought after. They will be displayed at the Fair in colour-harmonies based on the tints of the Scottish moors and deer forests.
Interesting new exhibits will be household textiles in new patterns coloured bordered cloths woven with rayon weft on cotton warp; new designs of bedspreads woven in different shades of rayon on cotton warp, and a new table damask in silver rayon jon a coloured cotton weft in pastel shades—with napkins to match.
