"MIDNIGHT TAXI" Chick Gardner Brian Donlevy Frances Drake

Lucky Todd J. W. McNeary Erickson Barney Flagg An' exciting story night Taxi" now at the Cathay Theatre, has thrills even for a Shanghai audience. It moves rapidly, depends. for comedy relief on. some smart "wisecracking," and is com-potently played by a well chosen cast.

It deals with a gang of clever coun-forfeiters, headed by a mysterious person who is finally brought to book but not before a few murders take place.

Mr. Brian Donlevy as the G-Man detailed to catch the gang does a convincing piece of work, as' does Mr. Alan Dinehart the big chief's lieutenant. Miss Frances Drake supplies the feminine element in a refreshing manner, while Mr. Harold Huber is excellent as the taxi-driver in the employ of the counterfeiters.

A. coloured, musical short with Venice as the background and a so-called comedy makes up the rest of the programme.—a.c,
