New York. Sept. 14.
The cotton market early advanced on the strength of the securities market and general buying. Later, prices reacted partially on increased hedging and less offtake. Closing quotations were steady, ranging from 3 to 6 points up from the previous final levels.
Featureless conditions prevailed in the rübber market, with price movement exceptionally narrow. The small decline was caused by liquidation. At the last call-oyer quotations were from 4 to 8 points below yesterday's close.
Prites in the Chicago Wheat pit moved upward owing to a better export demand, reports that rains are needed in some parts of the Southern Hemisphere and in sympathy with the firm tone of the stock market. At the final bell, gains from 2 to 2% cents were recorded. the stability of primary markets in face of yesterday's reactionary local session induced prompt absorption of 14 notices in the silk market to-day. Shorts covering and speculative demand were also ín evidence. At the close, advances from 134 to 2 cents were registered.—Reuter.
