Japanese Envoy and Officials Attend Inaugural Meeting Rome, Feb. 14.
The establishment of a "Society of Friends of Japan" -formed at ti suggestion of the Minister for N: tional Culture, Signor Alfieri, was celebrated here yesterday.
The Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Hotta, a representative of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and numerous members of Senate and official bodies were present.
After the president of the Orient Institute, Senator Centile, had made the opening speech, Sig. Alfieri spoke at length on the aims, and purposes of the new society, mainly the promotion of mutual understanding between the peoples of Italy and Japan.—Trans-Ocean. 4
