A New Feature Photos to the Editor

To the Editor of the "Nowrit-Ciniwa, Dat New St—Some of the. pictures entered inthe first series of your hi-weekly hap shots contest have made their appearance in_the last two issues your Sunday Supplement. They were all very pretty pictures and justice to your photographie editor ud your contestants like.

It was stated in the issue of the Sunday Supplement wherein' part of the first series pictures first appeared, that it had been a difeult task select the few chosen ones from a large assortment of quality pictures. L wonder if It is not possible to print some of those pictures which for one reason or other did not quite make the grade but are nevertheless ple~ tures well worth printing, after the contest has closed in October, T would suggest that you devote tone page of your Sunday Supplement throughout the year for the printing of pictures. entered in the present contest and for pictures that may be subsequently submitted.

not necessary for your journal to pay anything for such pictures, as the thrill of seeing one's humble' efforts in_print is ample reward.

Such a page, if Inaugurated, would, be an innovation in local journalism, ts position in the Sunday. Supplement would be somewhat similar to that of the correspondence columns in your journal. This suggestion. ix made without the slightest slight to your own photographers, for recognized thatthe "North-China Daily News" has excellent photogeaphers even as it has good editorial and news writers. But your official photo-raphers cannot be simultaneously ubiquitous, all-seeing or all-photographing. As your journal has seen fit to have "Letters to the Editor" columns there is no reason why your Sunday Supplement should not have "Photos to the Editor" Section. OF course, in order to get. printed the photography must be tolerably good the subject of eneral interest, 1 hope my suggestion will be adopted and that there will be large number of pictures of Shang and China of today and of yesterdi led in your Sunday Supplements, pietoriatly " portraying China and Chinese to the people of every part the world wherever the "North= China Dally News" penetrates, Shanghai, Aug, 12.
