Basketball Honours For Headquarters

"E" Company Give Leaders Very Close Run for Win Play in the "A" Division of the Colonel Cates Basketball League ended successfully last night at the Navy Y.MC.A. with Headquarters Second, unbeaten so far, -narrowly escaping defeat from "E" Company, last in the section, who suddenly put up a stubborn resistance and held a slight lead until the last three minutes to lose by 10-16.

The disqualification of Carr and Winchester via the foul route enable the Headquarters to come up from behind and remain unbeaten. Winchester was in rare form by a fine start in which he netted three field goals and a foul shot. These seven points gave the "E" team an advantage of 11-10 at half-time.

Fighting desperately, the Headquarters were unable to break the opponents' tight man-for-man defence. It was not until with only five minutes left when Winchester committed his fourth personal foul that the ultimate champions managed to rise. Moore was the hero because of his two goals towards the end. He scored a total of five baskets from the field. Wilde, the star, was closely watched through-

goals. out the contest and made only two 27 pts.
