Hsuchow, July 12.

Large numbers of Chinese guerillas have been killed or scattered in western Shantung during mopping-up drives continued by Japanese troops since the last of June, according to reports reaching here from that sec-for today.

The hardest fighting in this area took place at Liangshan on the right bank of the Yellow River in southwestern Shantung, where 15 different engagements were fought since the start of the mopping-up drives.

About 1600 Chinese soldiers were slain in these clashes, it estimated.—Domei
