Parleys Expected Mr. J. A. Lyons Hints of Bright Prospects

Australian-U.S. Trade

Canberra, Sept. 3.

Mr. Joseph A. Lyons, Prime Minister of Australia, announced today that the informal Australian-United States trade discussions have pro-grossed to the stage where it is hoped that the United States will announce the basis for negotiations.

This statement is interpreted to mean that, as result of Sir Earle Pages recent visit to the United States, prospects for a direct trade agreement between Australia and the United States arg bright.—Reuter.
