19 at Foreign "Y"

The 1938-39 hockey season will begin on October 19, next Wednesday, when the Shanghai Hockey Association holds its annual general meeting at the Foreign Y.M.C.A.

Business discussed will be of the usual nature, including the reading of the secretary's report for the past season, the treasurer's statement of accounts, and there will be the election of the coming season's officers.

Each member club may send two delegates to the meeting in which the president, two vice-presidents and four other members of the committee are to be elected.

In spite of the state of emergency last season was more than successful if compared with the preceding year in which local conditions were normal. The participation of no less than nine Army teams caused the League to be divided into three divisions.

The Second Battalion, the Loyal Regiment, retained the senior championship for the second successive time. They scored sweeping victories and captured the title undefeated In their last game, however, the Loyals lost to the Durham Light Infantry by a score of 2-nil.
