The Diplomatic Correspondent of the "Sunday Times" understands that the examination of proposals for assistance to China, in connect tion with Export Credits, has now reached a more definite stage.
He says that it seems fairly certain that as a start, credit of about £450,000 will be made available to the Chinese Government for the purchase of capital goods, chiefly lorries, under a Bill which is now messing through Parliament, and hich allots £10,000,000 for export credits to, be granted in the light of political as well as commercial considerations.
Taken in conjunction with the credit of £5,000,000 which is being extended to the Chinese trading group by an American bank, the Correspondent declares that this should enable China 1o develop trade with Western countries through Burma.—Reuter.
