Hongkong Becomes Big Industrial Centre

Goods Manufactured for Export to South Ports From OUR Own CORRESPONDENT

Hongkong, Feb. 14.

The war in China has the effect of turning Hongkong apart from being a leading seaport into an industrial city as was seen by the native goods at the Exhibition of industrial Products, which has just come to a successful close. Many people who visited the Exhibition were much impressed by the great strides made by many factories in Hongkong, all of which are owned, managed and operated by Chinese with native capital The products seen at the Exhibition include bicycles, electrical goods, piece-goods, cosmetics, lacquer, edibles, canned goods, electric flashlights, rubber goods, gas masks and tin helmets.

Some of the goods were manufactured in Shanghai. These include electric fans, electric heaters, cotton goods, gourmet powder, tinned food, silk and Bakerite products. Some Shanghai factories have opened branches here and the same is true of factories in Swatow and canton.
