British Naval Base Ci Populations Organized Singapore, Jan. 24. High-powered air-raid warning sirens which can be heard over a radius of more than two miles are on their way from England to Singapore.
These sirens, which will take their place in an elaborate scheme to protect Singapore, will be installed at six points on the island.
Extensive precautions will be taken io protect the thousands of people, mainly Chinese and other Asiatics, who crowd eight and ten, in a tiny room in the city's Chinatown.
First-aid posts will be established throughout the congested areas and elsewhere, while anti-gas services will, it is hoped, become available in every section of the city.—Reuter.
