Child Adoption Abuses

Another law which gravely needs amendment is that relating to the Lord George Scot. children, AMiss Horsbrugh quoted the case of a mother who entrusted her: child to. one of these societies in 'August, 1931; it died in the following November: the mother was never Informed and for' two years the society continued to extract money from her before she learnt that the child was dead.

Miss Horsbrugh's Bill was warmly received by the Government, which however, did not explain why it had Jdone nothing about the report of her Committee. Stil, better late than never. It is to be hoped that the reforms now set on foot will soon be an accomplished fact. The number of adoptions has nearly doubled the past' 10 years.
