Family System. Violated

Another source of grief to the Christian world, the Pope continued, is the destruction in totalitarian states of the family system. His Holiness outlined the sacred mission throughout the time of family organization and recalled that "man and the family have existed long before any state was ever organized."

Having denounced "the sad reversal to paganism and referring to the "necessary conditions for harmonious, lasting, and fruitful relationship among nations" the Pope stated that "it is essential for*nations to recognize and observe principles of natural and international law."

"These principles demand that each mution's-rights of "independence be respected as well as the right to live and to develop progressively along ihe path of civilization," Pope Pius asserted. "They further demand that treaties be faithfully abided by in accordance with right and justice."

The Church always stands ready to offer help in the spirit of Christ, he stressed, "Blood has already been shed and the sufferings of Poland as well as the efforts made by the Church to prevent war should cause the faithful to look for solace in prayer," His Holiness stated in coriclusion.—Havas,
