"Spreading of the war cannot affect the Powers' assistance to China. Furthermore, even if their assistance were affected, it could not affect China's resistance.

"Japan is so exhausted that she cannot make use of the present opportunity to intensify' her military operations in China.

"The United States' assistance to the Allies will be further strengthened by spreading of the war. When America enters the war in Europe, she will, at the same time, take posi-e measures in the Far East," the Yih Shih Pao" concludes.

In an editorial, the "Hsin Hua Jih Pao," official organ of the Chinese Communist Party, denounces Germany's invasion of the Scandinavian countries.

"We are against war," the paper asserts. "We are against the spread-thg of war areas." In the German action, the daily sees, however, "measures frustrating the Allies' attempt to establish an anti-Soviet base in northern Europe."—Reuter.
