Oslo, Oct. 26. AN eyewitness of the British air raid on Wilhelmshaven in the early days of the war declares that the 26,000-ton battleship Gneisenau was destroyed, according to the Norwegian newspaper "Arbeiderbladet."
He states that a bomb went down a funnel and exploded in the engine-room, breaking the ship in two. Several men were drowned. The Gneisenau is one of the most powerful units in the German Navy, and was completed only last year.—Reuter.
London, Oct. 26.
The Air Ministry does not confirm the report from Oslo that the German battleship Gneisenau was des-royed in the British air raid on Wilhelmshaven during ihe early days of the war.
Hence the identity of the warship known to have been badly damaged in the raid is still undisclosed.—Reuter.
