Chinese Cotton: Our market during the past week evinced an easier undertone for near month deliveries but for forward or new crop. de-veries price indications were' firm-for, in that the former evolved from necessitated liquidation and the tat ter was engendered by. the bullish speculative element Influenced by the drought. Spot business may be recorded as having been done on 'a very restricted scale, as spinners continue their policy of taking in supplies on a hand-to-mouth basis, being apparently in no pressing need of the raw material for the tine being. 'The general conditions for the mew crop are so far favourable and provided no untoward events false during the next fortnight, arrivals in large quantities of the' new rep cotton may be expected arlier date than of last year. The American market continues to move ina more or less steady position and 80 far has influenced this market neither one way or the other. How-fever, from tendencies manifested in the past, any material advince or decline in the foreign fibre would immediately be reflected to a more or less extent on the indigenous growth. Having in view the vicise aitudes to which the cotton plant is still exposed to and taking into consideration the advantageous rates at which the domestic staple is as yet available, it becomes advisable that buying on good recessions will ultimately prove renumerative, Yarn: Due to the demand not being 30 active as during the previous one business continues, "settlements steady Acame
